Burgess National Rabbit Week 2009 - www.burgessnationalrabbitweek.co.uk
Beechwood Veterinary Centre invites you and your rabbit for A FREE ‘Healthy
Hopper’ Check, 24th and 30th January 2009
To discuss the importance of correct rabbit nutrition and preventative with
one of our Veterinary Surgeons. Approximately four out of five rabbits treated
by vets are suffering from problems related to poor diet, which are often so
far advanced by the time the rabbit is brought in, they are difficult to treat.
If the rabbit has any dental or other health problems that are still in the
early stages with no obvious symptoms, we’ll be able to spot them and
advise on treatment and the best way to look after your rabbit.

Changes to Prescription Medication - 1st November 2008
The Supply of Relivant Veterinary Medicinal Products Order 2005 obliged all
veterinary surgeons to not charge their clients for issuing a written prescription
for a three year period, which ended on 31st October 2008. As a result, from
1st November 2008 all Active Vetcare surgeries will now charge £12.50
for a written prescription and that the prescription will allow a maximum of
3 months medication only. Please note that in order for a veterinary surgeon
to issue a prescription, an individual must be required to be under his or
her care and this will usually require the individual to attend an appointment
at an interval of every 3-6 months dependent on their condition. This may result
in a consultation charge.
Further
information about this change can be found at the government's Consumer
Direct website.
Beechwood Veterinary Centre Cycle to Paris - 20th May 2008
2 vets and 2 nurses from Beechwood Veterinary Centre in Woodley successfully
completed their challenge to cycle from Woodley to Paris this May. Vets Helen
Shreeve and Samara Cohen as well as nurses Marie Higgins and Hollie Ridges
set off on Wednesday 30th April and arrived at the Eiffel Tower in Paris by
lunchtime on Sunday 4th May. They were ably supported along the way by fellow
vet Marcus Evans and Hollie's father, Peter Ridges. The event was in aid of
the Worldwide Veterinary Service, a charity aiming to alleviate
suffering and improve animal welfare worldwide. The group set a fundraising
target of £3000 and even held a dog show to help raise funds for the
event. They are hugely grateful to all of their clients and the local community
who
responded
so empatically to the challenge, allowing the fundraising target to be easily
exceeded. For further information about the event or to donate, please visit www.cycletoparis.co.uk or

Website Re-launched - 23rd April 2008
We are proud to announce the launch of our new website. We recognised that
our old site was looking a little tired and out of date so we set about fixing
that problem, and today this is the result. Streamlined and loading faster,
the new site template should speed up the website. We've made it easier to
navigate and lots more is planned for the future, so watch this space!
